Sen. Major Olimpio, a member of Bolsonaro's party and a proponent of loosening gun legislation, again made that argument hours after Wednesday's rampage.
"We can't let those who take advantage of this tragedy speak about how disarmament is the solution," he tweeted, adding: "Weak and shameful 'disarmament farce,' which gave guns to criminals and prevented self-defense." |

The left's insistence that responsible, trained people are incapable of using sidearms to defend both themselves and wards under their care is illogical and without merit.
The amount of carnage in these attacks is linearly related to the response time of people carrying guns, i.e. the police. The only way to stop such an attack as quickly as possible (thus drastically reducing the carnage) is to have trained, armed civilians immediately present to take action.
That leftists are so hard-headed as to deny this reality should be a clue that they are never to be placed in positions of power.
