Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and husband Mark Kelly have a message for Arizona lawmakers: Enact reasonable gun restrictions or we'll help elect people who will.
And if necessary, Kelly, co-founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions with Giffords, said the group will take its case directly to voters.
At a press conference Thursday to launch the Arizona Coalition for Common Sense, Kelly acknowledged the political hurdles here.
"Arizona is different,' he said, with a long history of -- and relationship with -- firearms. "Arizona could be a tricky state when you consider this.' |

Any time you hear common sense gun regulations, it means anything except common sense. There is no such thing as common sense gun regulations.
How about applying some common sense and get rid of gun restrictions that don't work.
Criminals will always get guns, and they don't buy them at gun shows.
Gun regulations only restrict the rights of law abiding citizens. |

I have found that the old saw about gun control is true: "It's not about the guns, it's about control!" A progressive only wants one thing, total government control of society so that a utopia can exist. That is not only impractical, it's impossible! Why can't they or won't they see that? |

TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
