A political arm of the National Rifle Association is spending $544,000 on broadcast time to attack Democratic gubernatorial candidate Drew Edmondson.
The ad campaign, sponsored by the NRA's Political Victory Fund, claims Edmondson "wants to prohibit law-abiding adults under the age of 21 from possessing firearms for self-defense. He also opposes legislation that would give law-abiding Oklahomans greater freedom in choosing how to defend themselves and their families."
The group says the NRA has given Edmondson a "D" rating. |

Sorry. His 'Nam service and citizens' arrests won't get him over the bar. The direction now is to deconstruct most of the regulatory mischief that has been done to our right to bear arms. Default should be, you have an absolute right. The government should have to provide evidence and reasons pursuant to due process, on an individual basis, why you should be denied that right. Generally, firearm regulations amount to Prior Restraint; they place burdens on peaceable citizens with the presumption that such burdens will prevent them from using their liberty to commit crimes. That view is ass-backwards.
The way the Constitution sees it is "shall not be infringed", and that view must be restored.
So, no, he doesn't make the grade. Most don't. |
