The Queen has sod all to do with it, as the Monarchy these days is purely symbolic & a money making attractor of foreign tourists. Take what the NRA says in this article with a large pinch of salt, as it's full of omissions, inaccuracies & use of information out of context. Put it this way: If I suffer a home invasion right now & one of those involved comes at me with a hammer or knife, then he'll be met with a 130gr Sierra Game King & I will assuredly NOT be going to jail for doing so. The right to self defence is alive & well in the UK:

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. — Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888). |
