As the sound of 12-gauge shotguns becomes increasingly — and ironically — soothing, American politics is seemingly the last thing on anyone’s mind. And it’s almost beautiful the way that something so politically divisive can bring people together. There’s no denying that this is a part of our culture even in a suburb of the most liberal city in the nation.
On the other hand, I’ll admit that as I look around at the various shooting stations, I certainly can’t say I believe that nights like these are worth the deaths of thousands of Americans every year. But I also can’t say that these people are the root of the problem. |

Could embracing responsible gun owners be a part of the solution? How about Eddie Eagle in K - 3, and licensed permit holders at state universities? This is a clear case of freedom = greater safety. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)] |
