"That the allegations and the fear of reprisals turned out to be justified is a matter of record. I bring this up because, working with the insiders proved us right then, and lends credence to our concerns now. In spite of all the stupidity, corruption and outright evil, disbanding ATF is not in the interest of gun owners." |

Gun owners and manufacturers might be far better served if Congress - with or without WH co-operation - sought out a real "straight-shooter" and gave them carte blanche to remake BATFE. Yes, the concept is rife for abuse;which means such a selection must be above reproach and "untouchable", too !
But the "upside" is if this white knight were to appear they - with the help of a "flying squad' of aides dedicated to preservation of our gun rights - might just restore public confidence in BATFE, and by extension, some other government agencies/bureaus as well. |

Everything I've witness in govt demostrates higher and higher levels of incompetence. BATFE has no more chance of a 'White Knight' than the Republicans did of electing a speaker of the house that would honor his oath of office. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To trust arms in the hands of the people at large has, in Europe, been believed...to be an experiment fraught only with danger. Here by a long trial it has been proved to be perfectly harmless...If the government be equitable; if it be reasonable in its exactions; if proper attention be paid to the education of children in knowledge and religion, few men will be disposed to use arms, unless for their amusement, and for the defence of themselves and their country. — Timothy Dwight, Travels in New England and New York [London 1823] |
