"Over the weekend, a a 13-year old Memphis boy was shot in the head this weekend when he and another teen were playing with a pistol when it went off. With tragic deaths like this occurring more and more frequently, it's time to educate children about dangers not only in the home but in and around our communities as well."
"Danger can be lurking in the home or even on the playground, and education is the key to keeping your young loved-ones safe." ...
"Fire arms are number six on the list of the most likely cause of death in children. Some other dangers not on the list include bike riding, pedestrian issues and water safety." -------
Submitter's Note: From 1999 to 2004, accidental firearms deaths accounted for fewer than 1.7% of accidental deaths among children under 14 in Tennessee. |

| Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction. — St. George Tucker, in his edition of 'Blackstone's Commentaries,' 1:300 (1803). |
