Smith & Wesson announced that it has donated $1 million to NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. The gift, presented at the 2015 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits at Nashville, Tenn., is the latest in a series of gifts from the iconic American gunmaker to a variety of NRA entities.

Smith & Wesson CEO James Debney said, "At Smith & Wesson we are honored to be part of an American heritage that goes back 163 years and is rooted in the fabric and the freedoms of our country. Our customers have loyally supported our products, while the NRA has loyally defended the Second Amendment. We are proud to play our part by doing all we can to support the NRA-ILA and its efforts to preserve the rights of Americans to keep and bear arms."

Greetings From the Jungle of Jewish Ideas About Hunting

though neither of these men are Jewish, where Judaism weighed in on hunting for sport as well as for food.

..no single edict in the Torah forbidding hunting, the rabbis looked to several passages to show that it was indeed prohibited. They taught that the Torah forbids hunting because it represents cruelty to animals, violates the prohibition against wanton destruction--hunting purely for sport would be clearly out-- constitutes a "spilling of blood," as well as "copying the ways of the gentiles." Another objection is that it can be dangerous, though, I think more so to humans, as deer, as of yet, are unable to buy semi-automatic weapons

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
A state may not impose a charge for the enjoyment of a right granted by the federal constitution... The power to impose a license tax on the exercise of these freedoms is indeed as potent as the power of censorship which this Court has repeatedly struck down... a person cannot be compelled 'to purchase, through a license fee or a license tax, the privilege freely granted by the constitution.' —MURDOCK V. PENNSYLVANIA 319 US 105 (1942)
