Newly ascendant Democrats are promising congressional action on gun control amid a rash of mass shootings, including a late-night assault at a California bar that killed 12 people.
Measures including expanded background checks and a ban on assault-style weapons are likely to reach the House floor when Democrats retake control after eight years of Republican rule.
"The American people deserve real action to end the daily epidemic of gun violence that is stealing the lives of our children on campuses, in places of worship and on our streets," said Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leader who is running for a second stint as House speaker. |

If the Piglousies of the House get their way, after a ban on assault weapons, they will find the mass shootings will continue with other weapons, such as repeating shotguns, etc., and then will try to, or WILL, ban those. It's a "DIVIDE AND CONQUER" strategy. Will it work? Keep your powder dry ....... |

MarkHam Townsend -
It's prog bluster. DOA in the Senate, and failing that, a presidential veto.
No way either house gets 2/3 to pass anything. |

U.S. Congressman and Senators take an oath to uphold and preserve the Federal Constitution. In order to comply with the Constitution, Congress has enacted federal laws to execute and enforce this constitutional requirement. The People of America have never authorized their elected representatives to destroy their Bill of Rights, The Peoples' Rights. Citizens must see that elected officials are bound by the chains of the Constitution. Any person advocating gun control, gun registration, etc., of law abiding citizens, does not deserve to be an elected representative. Persons of little character, or honor disobey their oath.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
