I just read your article Guns
on Campus.
I wanted to give you an update on the other
side of the debate and the progress we are making on campuses here in Texas, and
now in other states as well.
Students for the Second Amendment recently
received funding for our Collegiate
Firearms Instructor Program. The goal of the program is to train college and
university students to become NRA Certified Firearms Instructors.
The Certified Instructors will then go back to
their campuses to offer training to their fellow students, and others interested
in learning more about the safe, competent, operation and handling of many types
of firearms.
The instructors will also be volunteering their
training services to programs outside of the academic community, such as Boy
Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H Shooting, Youth Hunter Education Programs, and JROTC
organizations.
We are in the midst of holding our
certification classes and preparing for the school year. We have not yet held a
firearms class on a campus but we plan to soon.
We will keep you updated.
...from my cold, dead fingers.
