Klamath Falls Crisis Relief Fund

from Jeff Stewart & Bob Anderson
Washington State Tyranny Response Team

August 1, 2001

KeepAndBearArms.com -- The Washington State Tyranny Response Team is sponsoring a fund/food drive to provide much-needed relief to the beleaguered farmers of the Klamath Basin.

(For anyone not familiar with the government actions that have resulted in the devastation of over 1400 farming families in the Klamath Falls area, please see the Klamath Falls Crisis page linked to from the main page of the Washington State TRT home site (http://www.trt-wa.org) or the Klamath Basin Crisis Page (http://www.klamathbasincrisis.org).

After consulting with Andrea Zingg and the head of the food bank in the Klamath Falls area, it appears that the most efficient means, by far, of rendering assistance to the people of the Klamath Basin is through cash donations directly to the food bank. As we mentioned before, this organization offers several benefits over transporting large quantities of food directly: they can purchase food and necessities with MUCH greater buying power than we can, on the order of 25 to 1. In addition, they have the ability to order whatever is needed when the need arises, thus eliminating the need for long-term food storage.

With this in mind, we have set up a bank account for contributions. The information is as follows:

Make checks out to "Klamath Basin Crisis Relief Fund" (account number is 471379020798). These can be dropped off at any Key Bank branch, or mailed to:

KeyBank
32400 Pacific Highway So.
Federal Way, WA 98003

Our plan is to gather donations up until Friday, August 10th. We will then empty the account and buy a cashier's check which will be presented to the food bank. We plan on driving down after work (precise scheduling to follow) on Friday, and some of us will be staying the weekend to support the protesters. This will also allow us to deliver any actual food, clothing or other donations we collect.

Anything you can do to spread the word will help. Call your churches, Boy Scout troops and any other civic-minded groups you can think of, and encourage them to support the people of Klamath Falls. As of today, the food bank will run out of food about the 3rd week in August, so any help we can deliver that weekend will be extremely important to these hard-working American families.

Let's get out the troops, and show the people of Klamath Falls that the patriots of America are paying attention, and stand firmly with them in their hour of need.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? [...] The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!" —Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Chapter 1 "Arrest")
