Operation Self Defense Seeking Lexis-Nexis Researchers

April 10, 2002 -- Operation Self Defense is seeking volunteers with access to Lexis-Nexis. Unfortunately, one of our best resources for finding and capturing armed self defense stories from across the nation has instituted a format that makes it difficult and prohibitively time consuming when trying to locate incidents involving armed self defense.

If you have access to Lexis-Nexis and can search their database on a daily basis or at least weekly basis, please contact one of the following individuals for more details:

Barbara Renner
OpSD Director

David Miller
OpSD Assistant Director

If you are only able to do the searches we require on one day a week, please still make contact. Having 7 people doing one day each still gets the job done -- and we are missing out on lots of armed self-defense news items by not tapping the fantastic (and expensive) resource the Lexis-Nexis has become.

We are also warmly extending another invitation to busy but dedicated gun rights activists to participate in our campaign to cover every last online newspaper in America. With just a few minutes a day, we can make sure your local paper, and all papers do not print an armed self defense news story without us finding out about it -- and sharing it widely.

You do not examine legislation in light of the benefits it will convey if properly administered, but in light of the wrongs it would do and the harms it would cause if improperly administered. —LYNDON B. JOHNSON
