Great site, lots of good information.
As I did my military duty in my homeland of Norway, I got enough of guns and don't really like them. I mean, what works for others is fine for them, but I am more into knife throwing, and as I understand the 2nd amendment it's 'bear arms' with no specification, so hopefully any side arm will be accepted.
Cheers, and thanks again for a very good site!

One more thing I wanted to add, if people want to take away our gun right because they are to stupid to realize the guns dont kill people, people kill people. Than they need to take away 747s, 737s and ect... because the airplains killed all those poor souls in the twin towers!!!

Sent to Washington Times as letter.
"Gun control" is a misnomer when used by anti-gun activists. To most of them, gun control means federal registration of firearms, followed by one or more buy-backs, confiscation and destruction. Many gun control laws effectively take away firearms from the good guys and leave them in the hands of those who would do us harm. This approach to crime is not working very well. Anti-gun people exhibit a knee-jerk reaction, passing more and more firearms laws. Some 20,000 laws give or take a few, is just not enough. Could it simply be that when you take guns away from responsible people and have the murderers, rapists, looters, and robbers still armed, it leads to a higher violent crime rate? My tentative conclusions about these anti-gunners are not that they are poorly informed, or even misguided. They are just stupid. They have learned little or nothing from decades of experience and deny people the ability to defend themselves and their families in their own homes and cars. There is no appropriate time to remove the natural right to self-defense, ever. Not for emergencies, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and certainly not for the tyranny of government against its citizens. Washington D.C. has denied residents their guarantee and rights under the 2nd amendment for some 30 years. This law appears to be illegal, illogical and unconstitutional. It is really a crime perpetrated against its own citizens. New York, Ch..

I read the story about the Arizona gun dealer Jerry, ans was horrified.. On 4/10/07 Two ATF agents knocked on my door in the morning, and asked about a shotgun I had purchased a few months earlier. They were dressed in plain clothes(t-shirts and jeans)They were showing their BATF badges when I opened the door. They said they needed to confiscate the shotgun because something had come up on my background check. They asked me if I had any other firearms, and said if I said no they would get a warrant and search for them anyway. I cooperated with them and they seemed very polite and professional. I had purchased three other firearms just a few months before the shotgun purchase, all background checks came back clean. I asked what I could do to get them back and the agent in charge told me if I got the charge expunged from my record I could get them all back. They took 13 guns in all, some were family guns, heirlooms.I figured in all were worth about $8000+ .I got the expungment,as of 7/27/07 and now they are saying it won't get me my guns back. They said they would hold them for me to give me time to get the expungment, then they will be destroyed.I guess I'm out of luck.I know now they had no intention of giving them back. I wasted my time and money on getting the expungment, plus I'm out all that the guns were worth....Eric

Good news about the Gun Ban in Belgium.
We had Federal Elections on June 10th, and the parties that formed the Government (and that are responsable for the Gun Ban implemented since May 2006) lost very heavily in these elections.
The consequences are important :
- the coalition can not continue
- the prime minister (from Liberals) announced his departure from top politics
- the president of the socialist party had to resign
- the small party "spirit" (left liberals) that lobbied most to obtain the Gun Ban, lost ALL their representatives in Parliament
All the political parties that obtained good results in the elections (CD&V, VB, MR, ...) already confirmed in the past that they want to enhance the current gun legislation.
So we can expect some improvements to come over the comming months.
In meantime only about 10 % of the estimated gun owners did register their guns as required by the new law, the deadline of June 30th is approaching fast, so as of July 1st there will be very much "illegal" weapons in Belgium (which were bought in the past fully legally) ...

Please don't let the Virginia Tech Massacre affect your opinion. That man abused the right to bear arms. There are some of us who enjoy having the right and would not abuse it. Take it away from individuals for thier mistakes, don't punish us all.

This is a good site. I wish I had known about it when Ball State University Police had illegal confiscated my 2 handguns and then evicted us from University houseing for possessing them. I eventually got my guns back, but couldn't find a lawyer willing to sue the university for the eviction or putting my wife on disciplinary probation.

Great site. Gun-owners and supporters of the US Constitution need to join up and support one another. We might take a page from 'the other side' and read such documents as 1963 'Port Huron Statement'. A great deal of the success of the anti-Constitution anti-gun forces has been to control then alter words: republic to 'democracy' and Constitutional rights to civil rights. Subtle but effective. We have to reclaim language even as we take action.

I read the Costco letter. It has one glaring flaw. Costco allows non-members to enter their store to buy lunch or buy from their pharmacy. To me, this would invalidate their claim that they are not a public accomodation. I don't belong to Costco, but if they apply this policy in Texas they had better have a big sign out front per Texas law.

I am already a member. I am writing re: the Costco gun ban. FYI, the Costco store here in Mesa, Arizona has a prominent sign on the entrance saying "No Firearms Allowed". However, the manager was quite comfortable with me being armed so long as I had a permit. I did not get anything in writing saying so, however. She gave me the address of their corporate offices and I wrote a lengthy letter suggesting alternatives to their sign and including copies of Firearm Coalition's CCW card; however, they have not bothered to reply.
