Shooting Ruled Self-Defense After Police Find Projectile Embedded in Suspects Gun

A 27-year-old man got out of the vehicle and brandished a weapon. That’s when the shooter, who had a valid concealed carry permit, drew his gun and fired at the suspect.

The suspect was hit multiple times in the chest, where he later died at the hospital.

The victim cooperated with the police and stated he shot him in self-defense. And the police found a bullet lodged in the suspect’s gun, which backs up the victim’s story.

“There is a projectile presumably from the shooter’s gun embedded into the gun of the decedent, and it’s still there, which lends credence to the information that we received from the shooter that he was shooting in self-defense,” said Pace via 6ABC.

In its New York ruling, the high court's conservative majority also changed a test lower courts had used for evaluating challenges to gun laws.

Judges should no longer consider whether the law serves public interests like enhancing public safety, the opinion authored by Justice Clarence Thomas said. Instead, they should only weigh whether the law is "consistent with the Second Amendment's text and historical understanding."

"Basically, the Supreme Court has given an invitation for the gun lobby to file lawsuits against virtually every gun law in America," Lowy said.

The House passed legislation last Friday to revive a ban on semi-automatic guns, the first vote of its kind in years and a direct response to the firearms often used in the crush of mass shootings ripping through communities nationwide.

Once banned in the U.S., the high-powered firearms are now widely blamed as the weapon of choice among young men responsible for many of the most devastating mass shootings. But Congress allowed the restrictions first put in place in 1994 on the manufacture and sales of the weapons to expire a decade later, unable to muster the political support to counter the powerful gun lobby and reinstate the weapons ban.

Missouri is a state filled with law-abiding gun owners. There’s no pressing need for federal bureaucrats to collect information about who they are and other information on their applications for concealed carry permits. Indeed, restricting who can access that information has been a priority for Missouri lawmakers for years: limitations on the distribution of firearm owner information have been codified into Missouri law to prevent the very scenario we’re seeing here.

...she woke up when the man physically and sexually assaulted her in her own home. Tired of fighting him, Roxana just waits for the bad dream to end. “It causes me pain and shame that what I lived through is not recognized, because I was raped and I am a survivor of a femicide,” she continues with a broken voice that is immediately composed.

Everything happened very quickly: they struggled, she pushed him and managed to get him off her, she ran and tried to escape, but she could do nothing but grab a shirt and defend herself. “I put it on his neck, we started struggling again, he wanted to get me out from behind him… that was when we fell and I didn’t let go of the shirt because of the fear I had,” she explained.

The bodega clerk who was infamously charged with murder for fatally stabbing an assailant has had it with the crime-ridden Big Apple and is returning to the Dominican Republic, pals told The Post on Friday.

“He doesn’t work here anymore. He’s getting ready to move out of the country,” the manager of the Blue Moon convenience store, where the grisly Manhattan stabbing happened July 1, said of Jose Alba, 61.

A Washington County grand jury recently declined to issue charges against a Hagerstown-area teenager in the May 8 stabbings of two others, including a Hagerstown teen who died, according to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The grand jury declined in late June to issue charges against Mark Mefikeh Ngwafon because it determined the defendant acted in self-defense, Washington County State’s Attorney Gina Cirincion said.

Citing support for the Second Amendment, a desire for personal protection, and fear that a newly elected governor could curtail gun rights in Maryland, dozens of Carroll County residents have been flocking to sign up for classes required to obtain a “Wear and Carry” permit in the state.

Ever since Gov. Larry Hogan directed the Maryland State Police in early July to suspend the state’s “good and substantial reason” standard for obtaining a permit to carry a concealed handgun, demand for firearms classes in Carroll has soared, according to two local instructors.

CA: NRA-ILA Backed Lawsuit Challenges California’s Ban on Promoting Youth-Hunting and Youth-Shooting-Sports Programs

The California Assembly passed and Governor Newsom signed AB 2571 into law earlier this year. NRA-ILA provided a thorough review of AB 2571 last month. The real danger with the bill is that it vaguely and broadly prohibits any advertisement promoting firearms or their use that “appears to be attractive to minors.” The bill lists several vague factors that indicate whether something would be attractive to minors, including colors or caricatures that minors might find attractive or featuring a minor in an advertisement. Thus, any youth-firearm-safety, hunter-education, or shooting-sports program cannot be promoted in the Golden state, without running afoul of the law.

Some American teachers are being trained and armed to protect their 5-year-old students. Could anything be more perverse?

The Americans in charge of those armed schools are ignorant of the very purpose of education. At base, education is not about arithmetic and writing and learning facts. Those 5-year-olds are supposed to leave kindergarten with a love of their society and their constructive place within it. That’s the very purpose of a school.

IL: Highland Park mayor urges support for statewide assault weapons ban

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering urged the Lake County Board to support a statewide ban on assault weapons during a wide-ranging discussion Friday about gun violence and how to curb it.

“I know that restricting access to assault weapons does not stop all gun violence, but banning weapons of war is one commonsense step we can take. It is worth it even if just one life is saved. I am sickened that my town, and you should be sickened that our county, like so many others, has been added to an ongoing list of places where mass shootings have happened — a list that should not even exist,” Rotering said, a little more than a month after the Highland Park parade shootings that left seven dead.

The Trumpist Supreme Court: Off the rails of democracy

Rage and confusion over the recent Supreme Court decisions is sweeping the nation. The Roe v. Wade decision (1973) establishing women’s reproductive rights has been repealed. A New York State law prohibiting the carrying of concealed guns, passed in response to escalating shootings and deaths, has been declared unconstitutional. The court has sharply reduced the regulatory powers of the Environmental Protection Agency, established in 1970. This comes after decades of scientific research showing the dangers of climate change and global warming.

What is the logic behind this, and what as Marxists and Communists can and should we do to challenge and defeat these policies?

If you looked at State Attorney Andrew Warren’s social media, you might assume he worked for Giffords, Brady or Everytown, not the people of Hillsborough Country, Florida.

Warren is an anti-gun zealot.

In post after post on Twitter and Facebook, he railed against the Second Amendment, gun owners and Florida laws dedicated to keeping us safe.

On Florida’s Stand Your Ground law: “As we said then, this law protects violent criminals & wastes resources by taking officers off the street and making us try cases twice – and has nothing to do with responsible gun ownership. And it’s slowed down the system, delaying justice for victims and their families.”

Law-abiding gun owners will not harm you. But criminals will

...Indianapolis demonstrates that, with training, a responsible gun owner can respond swiftly, safely and responsibly to save lives. A 22-year-old saved a significant number of lives when he eliminated a shooter who murdered three people and injured three more in an Indiana mall; the situation likely would have been much worse. Since 2021, there have been a total of 22 confirmed incidents of concealed carry permit holders employing deadly force to stop criminals in life-threatening situations. This number sounds insignificant in a vacuum; however, it is critical to consider that most shootings do not occur in places where firearm carry is permitted — for obvious reasons — thus there is generally no armed person available to stop a shooter.

A constitutional challenge to New York’s illegal firearms possession statute, coming in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s finding that the state’s concealed-carry application process violates the Second Amendment, will be heard by the state Court of Appeals.

Associate Judge Jenny Rivera granted a motion for leave for the court to hear the appeal of a Bronx man conviction on a gun-possession charge that landed him a sentence of 16 years to life in prison.

In a report issued by the FBI, California ranked first for the most active shooter incidents in 2021. The state has been in the top spot in three of the past five years.

According to the study, a total of 61 active shooter incidents occurred across 30 states last year with 103 people killed and 140 wounded. This is up from 40 incidents and 38 killed in 2020.

California had 6 incidents that claimed the lives of 19 people with 9 wounded. Texas and Georgia each had 5.

California, which has some of the strictest gun laws, saw 0.015 shootings per 100,000 people. Texas, which has very unrestrictive state gun laws, had nearly the same at 0.0167 per 100,000 people.
