The next time a bear hunt is conducted in Florida, the hunters could get some additional camouflage.

The Senate Governmental Oversight and Accountability Committee on Tuesday backed a measure (SB 1364) that would create a public-records exemption to shield personal information --- such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses and telephone numbers --- of people getting hunting, fishing and boating licenses and certificates from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

When the .17 HMR burst on the scene several years ago I was given the opportunity to spend some time with Ruger’s 77/17. I learned that at an appropriate range, with good wind conditions, varmints better beware. The rifle was so accurate and fun to shoot I bought it.

Second Amendment activists are wearing big smiles today in West Virginia after the House of Delegates yesterday passed a measure to allow concealed carry without a permit by more than a 2-to-1 margin, while in neighboring Virginia, the gun prohibition lobby has furiously turned on Gov. Terry McAuliffe for restoring CCW reciprocity agreements with 25 states.

The National Rifle Association is calling on the governor to abolish the Southwest Florida Water Management District once and for all. In a statement released Tuesday, NRA past president and lobbyist Marion Hammer demanded Gov. Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Florida Legislature take action to get rid of the SWFWMD. Hammer also requested an investigation into the state agency for “criminal conduct” and called on Bondi to prosecute those responsible for “unlawful actions.”

Police are searching for a man and two others after a gun was fired into a dressing room wall at the Gander Mountain store in the Millcreek Mall complex Sunday.

Investigators describe the man as being in his early 20's, white, with ball cap, jeans and white Under Armour sweatshirt.

In New Hampshire, nearly half of the state’s residents own guns. Republican voters have a notorious libertarian streak and resent government interference and control, and only 24 percent favor more strict gun laws.

This is also the first presidential cycle since Democrats fully embraced gun control as an agenda item. President Obama almost got a universal-background-check bill through the Senate and has signed over 20 executive orders that tighten federal restrictions on gun ownership. One of every four commercials aired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign has been about gun laws.

Arizona taxpayers could be on the hook for up to $240 million to convince gun owners to get state permits to carry concealed weapons.

Any adult can now have a concealed gun but undergoing the training and getting a permit brings other privileges, like reciprocity with other states. About 250,000 people now have such permits.

Police have arrested two 18-year-olds and four juveniles for stealing $10,000 in guns during a house party. They face multiple felony charges including aggravated possession of firearms and unlawful delivery of stolen firearms. The stolen firearms were delivered within 1000 feet of a school. This is considered a class 1 felony.

1. FAL Pronunciation and Grammar: Soon after the introduction of the rifle, Fabrique Nationale (FN) offered an abbreviation for the English speaking world: L.A.R (Light Automatic Rifle). However, this abbreviation never caught on, and instead we commonly pronounce the model by its French language abbreviation F-A-L. In countries where the rifle was adopted, the letters FAL quickly became an acronym and is pronounced in one word instead of an abbreviation.

Among a stash of firearms intercepted during outbound inspections in Lukeville, Arizona on Saturday was a semi-automatic assault rifle modified with a 3-D printed receiver, allowing the weapon to fire in full automatic mode, authorities said.
