State and local officials said that while it is difficult to observe trends in people seeking applications to conceal carry firearms, it appears that the numbers spike following mass shootings. “When we see significant violent events, usually mass shootings at schools or malls or that sort of thing, it makes us all very uneasy,” Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Public Information Director Jessica Brown told the Examiner-Enterprise. “That makes us think about what we can do to protect ourselves.” |

What will surely be forever known as the Oregon Standoff is over, and it should be no surprise to anyone that it failed utterly to accomplish anything for the misguided fools who took over a remote government outpost. Well, it did get someone killed, a senseless and futile death to be sure, and that probably will give the constitutionally misinformed a martyrdom of sorts.

Gia Arnold is free on bail amid allegations she had an illegal AR-15 assault rifle in her car last week in Niagara Falls. The 26 year old first made headlines in 2014 when she ran an unsuccessful campaign for the N.Y.S Senate.
Stephen Aldstadt is the president of the Shooters Committee for Political Education, or S.C.O.P.E., a pro-gun organization. He wouldn't comment on Arnold's case. But, he said the group has long contested the now illegal status of most AR-15's. “If you're going to pass a law with guns, you should pass a law that actually targets criminal behavior, not makes criminals out of ordinary sportsman and gun owners.”

Legislation imposing rules and restrictions on Indiana’s high-fenced deer hunting facilities looks likely to pass through the House. But industry opponents are still lobbying for stricter language.
Environmental and conservation organizations have long opposed high-fenced deer hunting, an industry left unregulated by the courts last year. The likelihood of the General Assembly banning the industry outright this session is essentially zero, but the opposition groups hope to strengthen proposed rules and restrictions.

Optics have been around for a very long time. In fact, the origin of modern firearm optics stretch all the way back to the 17th century, when a civil engineer by the name of John R. Chapman designed the first telescopic scope. These were later used to some extent in the Civil War, and later more prominently in World War I and II. Today, optics are considered an invaluable part of any firearm—whether on the battlefield or for self-defense. |

The way a few members of the Hudson Falls Fish & Game Club tell it, the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was a great supporter of the Second Amendment, but not a particularly good shot.
“I was up in the pull house, and the justice kept missing the clays and the rabbit (targets), so I called Bob (Henke) to come up and pull and I went down there,” said Dan Conley, a Hudson Falls resident who was formerly the head custodian for Queensbury schools. |
