Fuddruckers has had a no weapons policy for several years but it wasn't being enforced in all locations. "In the framing era and in 2010, the Militia within the meaning of the second amendment is the everyman and outside the control of the Commander-in-Chief. Smear was then and is now a powerful weapon against freedom in America. As if Independence from public servants and love of freedom were somehow contentious."

"Last January I wrote about the decision of the Philippine government to ban all guns outside the home for their entire election season to control the violence that has troubled their elections in recent years. The US State Department has issued a travel warning to Americans to avoid travel to the Philippines and if they have to go, to avoid large groups. ... "So there's the key question... what would this 'volunteer militia' do, exactly, to defend against 'federal infringements on state sovereignty?' A 'militia' is pretty much good at only one thing. So let's say that the federal government 'infringes state sovereignty' in some way, maybe by requiring Oklahoma schools to, I don't know, teach black children or something... what, precisely, will be the 'militia' response? No, seriously -- I'm dying to hear it. We all are." ...

Submitter's Note: How about when ATF agents come to enforce federal gun laws against "Made in Oklahoma" guns? I'm sure that dozens of armed militia members would help keep things peaceable as they helped 'escort' agents back to the state line, sans 'evidence' (i.e. someone's lawful property).

"Kirk Newman from Saginaw County came to the second amendment rally at the Capitol, strapped with a glock .45 and an AR 15 rifle. As a patrolman he said what he sees on the street is reason enough to carry a firearm." [emphasis added]

"'It's really important now a day the way society's gone. Crime is out of control in my opinion.'"

"For some it's a sport. For others, it's protection. But for everyone it's a right that the people who marched to the Capitol steps will fiercely defend."

"'The second amendment rights are just as important as all other rights,' said Newman. 'If you start chipping away at one of our rights ... what will be next?'" ...

"This figure, while being a 3.3 percent decrease from the 1,345,096 checks conducted in March 2009 -- the early stage of an ongoing surge in firearms and ammunition sales -- is an increase of 24.9 percent over checks in March 2008." ...

"The third annual Patriot's Day Open Carry Walk will be held in Urbana Saturday in commemoration of the 'shot heard round the world' that started the American Revolution 235 years ago."

"Thomas Horch of Urbana said he and other advocates will gather to celebrate freedom and exercise 'the right to keep and bear arms' protected by the Second Amendment ..."

"Horch said open-carry is legal in Ohio and that many residents need to be reminded of that fact, so public education is the primary purpose of the walk. Participants can walk with holstered handguns, but long guns should be unloaded, with detachable magazines removed, he said. Organizers will provide open bolt/chamber indicator flags for anyone who needs one." ...

"Tuesday, April 6, Great Smoky Mountain National Park Ranger Bill Wright spoke to the monthly meeting of the Knoxville chapter of the Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA). Wright is the chief law enforcement officer in the park. His rangers are responsible for all law enforcement in the park, in both Tennessee and North Carolina, since the Park straddles the state line."

"Earlier this year ... a 94 year ban on firearms in National Parks was lifted. Persons with 'facially valid' carry permits may now carry firearms in the Park, under the laws of the state they are in. ... If you are from Vermont, which has legal Constitutional Carry, but no permitting process, you may not carry in the park. A state permit is required." ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

Gun rights advocates are rallying at the Michigan Capitol.

Tuesday's event is designed to show support for the Second Amendment. The Michigan event mirrors those held in several other states.

A nationwide Second Amendment March is scheduled for April 19 in Washington. Supporters say they want to show politicians they will oppose anti-gun legislation.

Some who attended Michigan's rally carried guns and rifles. Others carried signs or wore hats, including one that read "The 2nd Amendment: America's Original Homeland Security."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
[The American Colonies were] all democratic governments, where the power is in the hands of the people and where there is not the least difficulty or jealousy about putting arms into the hands of every man in the country. [European countries should not] be ignorant of the strength and the force of such a form of government and how strenuously and almost wonderfully people living under one have sometimes exerted themselves in defence of their rights and liberties and how fatally it has ended with many a man and many a state who have entered into quarrels, wars and contests with them. — George Mason, "Remarks on Annual Elections for the Fairfax Independent Company" in The Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792, ed Robert A. Rutland (Chapel Hill, 1970).
