... "The 'Safety Guide' is a tool for promoting an agenda, and a useful one, because it carries the weight of perceived medical authority, to which many simply defer without question. Being a peer, Woolley doesn't have to, and he demonstrates how the 'defensive value of guns' is 'glaringly omitted' from the tract, that their 'deterrent value is ignored,' that some households have higher risks than most, that claims are carefully worded to produce a desired reaction, that evidence is inconsistently evaluated, and that the whole damned effort smacks of a legislative, rather than a medical agenda." ... |

"130 years before there was a National Guard and 100 years before there was any organized police force, there was the Militia. It was the everyman in the framing era of the United States at a time when the nation was defenseless and there was no one else. I have news for you from 90 million gun owners: there still is no one else."
"Militia constitutionally exists for many reasons, and one is because relief organizations are not first-in responders. When people are dislocated or in shock in large numbers in time of disaster, it will be days to weeks to get around to everyone, depending on the scope and magnitude of the disturbance. The habit of doing nothing until they get around to you is dangerous. ..." ... |

New Hampshire has been named the safest state in the nation for the third year in a row.
In a report released Monday, Washington-based CQ Press announced its national crime rankings.
CQ Press says Gov. John Lynch has worked with the attorney general, police chiefs and lawmakers to better protect children by passing a tough sexual predator law, increasing the state police and the number of state prosecutors.
Lynch says the state's distinction as the safest is a part of what makes it a great place to live and work and would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the men and women of New Hampshire law enforcement. -------
