Writing for the 5-2 majority, State Supreme Court Justice Maria E. Berkenkotter dismantled the long-standing corporate assumption that at-will employment agreements allow businesses to force complete submission from employees facing violent workplace crimes.

“The employment relationship should not be used to strip workers of the ordinary legal privileges every person possesses,” Berkenkotter declared in the historic June 15 opinion. “The right to self-defense has never been cabined by role or location… Rather, the right follows the employee from home to work and back and everywhere in between.”

A judge sentenced Alan Pacheco to 24 months “conditional discharge” for not having a valid concealed carry permit for the gun the court earlier ruled he used in self-defense.

One man was wounded.

As reported by Muddy River News in April, Pacheco, 23, who goes by the first name Chris, took the stand during a bench trial and testified that he grabbed his gun between his car’s center console and driver’s seat to protect himself and his girlfriend after two men reached in through the open window and assaulted him on July 6, 2024.

A Florida appeals court ruled Wednesday that the state’s ban on concealed carry by adults ages 18 to 20 violates the Second Amendment, finding that young adults are entitled to the same constitutional protections as law-abiding adults over the age of 20.

In a sweeping opinion, the court said 18-year-olds can serve in the military and defend the nation but face restrictions on their ability to exercise the same self-defense rights available to older adults.

“Eighteen- to 20-year-olds can defend the country without restriction but can only utilize their Second Amendment right to self-defense with severe restrictions,” Judge Spencer D. Levine wrote for a unanimous three-judge panel of Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeals.

“Florida does not have to choose between the Second Amendment and public safety,” Collins said. “We protect both — restore due process for gun owners, give our Sheriffs the tools they actually need, and stop watering down theft laws while families and small businesses get hit.”

The LG [Collins] wants to repeal red flag laws and the state’s bump stock ban, allow people as young as 18 years old to buy all manner of firearms, and push to repeal 1934’s National Firearms Act, which allows for federal taxes on firearms dealers and makers.

During an hour-long panel discussion, Crow and Muller focused on Evans’ alleged misaligned priorities, criticizing how he consistently puts the financial interests of his donors over the people he represents. One of the many interests that Evans was accused of prioritizing was those of gun lobbyists, an area that Kelly had experience in, both in his personal life after the attempted assassination of his sister-in-law, former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), and through his work as a senior advisor with GIFFORDS, a nonprofit advocating for gun safety and regulation.

In his remarks to over 50 people at the town hall, Kelly maintained a pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment stance while also advocating for more gun safety laws.

An alliance of firearms dealers and Second Amendment advocates sued Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis over a law authorizing warrantless searches of gun sales records.

Polis signed HB26-1126, which allows any “peace officer” to inspect the sales records of any gun store without a warrant at any time and for any reason, on June 2. The lawsuit filed by the Colorado Shooting Sports Association (CSSA), the Colorado Federal Firearms Licensees Association (CFFLA) on behalf of three federal firearms licensees (FFL) challenges the warrantless inspection provisions of the bill on Fourth Amendment grounds.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday challenging a unique set of concealed carry rules enforced by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California. The legal complaint takes aim at county policies that prohibit handgun carry permit holders from using red dot sights or weapon-mounted flashlights, alongside a complete ban on carrying single-action-only (SAO) 1911- and 2011-style pistols.

According to the SAF, the restrictions enforced by Sheriff David Livingston are entirely unique.

An appeals court ruled on Wednesday that part of Florida’s gun law is unconstitutional.

That ruling says the state cannot ban those 18-20 from concealed carry.

Judge Spencer Levine said restricting that age group from the same rights that other law-abiding adults have access to violated Second Amendment rights.

“Can law-abiding adults, aged 18 to 20, be prohibited from exercising their Second Amendment rights to self-defense available to other law abiding adults? The plain text of the Constitution and our country’s history and traditions say no,” Levine wrote.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier declined to defend the law earlier this year, and he praised the ruling on X. “In another win for the unalienable rights of Floridians, the 4th DCA agreed with our position that Florida’s law banning adults under 21 from conceal carrying a firearm is unconstitutional,” Uthmeier wrote. “We will not seek further review and will work with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to implement the court’s order,” he added.

Republicans and the Supreme Court Are Imposing Gun Anarchy as “Rights.” Democrats Should Say So Now—Before the Midterms

Republicans have spent decades branding gun chaos as gun rights. Democrats should stop accepting that lie.

A movement that wants to erase background checks, weaken red-flag laws, strike down concealed-carry limits, and override local safety rules is not defending freedom. It is selling gun anarchy.

Republicans aren’t defending freedom; they’re dismantling the very public safety that makes freedom possible.

The litigators from TPPF’s Center for the American Future begin by breaking down a major Fifth Circuit victory that struck down an 1869 federal ban on home distilling of spirits. They analyze the McNutt and Hobby Distillers Association v. U.S. Department of Justice case, dissecting standing doctrine, the limits of the taxing power, and the Necessary and Proper Clause’s role in preserving federalism.

They also highlight their litigation targeting the Hughes Amendment’s ban on post-1986 machine guns (Temple Gun Club v. Blanche), and the FinCEN case (Corley v. U.S. Dep’t of the Treasury) involving Treasury rules on residential real estate transfers.

There are smaller concealed carry pistols, and there are those with a higher capacity. There are lighter polymer guns with optics-ready slides and double-stack magazines – but few carry pistols combine the feel of a classic 1911 with the convenience of true pocket carry quite like the SIG Sauer P938.

Quick Summary: In a market swamped with light, high-capacity polymer handguns, the SIG Sauer P938 stands out for its traditional 1911 feel in a pocket-carry sized package.

With summer in full swing, kids are out and about, but what are they playing with? A study conducted by Global Growth Insights reported nearly 56% of toy manufacturers have an increased demand for foam guns such as Nerf guns.

With an increased demand, it is vital for children to understand how to use them responsibly.

Quincy Pro-Act Officer Amber Haistings said using these toys without care can result in tragic situations.

“Don’t shoot at cars, don’t shoot at people, don’t be out in the street pointing it and running around with it, stay within your house and your backyard,” Haistings said.

A first-of-its-kind law in New York could force 3D printers sold for homes and business to come equipped with technology blocking them from making guns.

The new requirement, also under consideration in California, attempts to thwart the latest technique for producing untraceable “ghost guns” that have turned up in crimes. But there are questions about whether the technology can work and concerns about its effect on personal privacy and constitutional rights.

After they knocked politely, they stepped sideways, moving away from the house’s front door. This is a standard maneuver for police approaching a house for a very simple reason: Doors do not stop bullets.

Inside the house, a 33-year-old amateur gunsmith who goes by the pseudonym Yeezy wondered what to do. He’d had run-ins with the authorities before — an hourslong search by the TSA in an airport most recently. A solidly-built man with long, wild hair and a beard who partially hides behind an iridescent face mask online, Yeezy has amassed tens of thousands of followers across social media sites by posting a mix of far-left political memes and his related, but far more tangible hobby: 3D-printed firearms.
