It seems Springfield Armory (SA) has been taking refresher courses on cool, vintage, battle-proven pistols of late. And the best part? They’re made of good, old-fashioned forged steel, striking a chord with traditionalists of the pistol craft, not that there’s anything wrong with poly-framed guns, mind you. But come on, we can only take so much of a good thing.

An alarming entry in the Seattle Police Blotter, and subsequent court action regarding one of the suspects involved in two separate cases, underscores the problem with rising crime in the Jet City, and what isn’t being done to curb it.
The police report says eight people were arrested Aug. 4 in a narcotics operation and one of the suspects was a 16-year-old who turned out to be the same teen arrested in July, at the same location, for also selling fentanyl. |

The solid copper hollow point bullet (SCHP) can be used in both rifle and pistol ammunition. All-copper pistol bullets have the familiar large hollow opening at the end, but rifle versions have a wider range of options. The different types of rifle ammo are for different sized game, and the hollow point in copper can expand in a variety of useful ways, depending on the intended target. A deer-hunting ammo, for example, will be much different than a varmint ammo.
Solid copper hollow points can be used in most places that have gone “lead-free,” including ranges and hunting areas. There are several manufacturers of SCHP bullets, with Magtech and Barnes being the most well known. |

State Central Committee races aren't sexy. They're not races you'll see expensive TV ads for. In fact, there's a good chance nine out of ten voters won't even know what these elected positions do. The Republican State Central Committee is the governing power of the Ohio Republican Party (ORP). It recruits and endorses candidates for federal and state offices. One man and one woman are elected as State Central Committee members in each Ohio Senate district.

California gun owners have been under siege for the past year - even by the not-so-Golden State’s standards. In September 2021, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed AB-173, which allows for the disclosure of highly sensitive information, including a gun owner’s name, address, place of birth, phone number, occupation, driver’s license or ID number, race, sex, height, weight, hair color, eye color, and even their social security number and types of firearms that they own, to universities and any “bona fide research institute.”

In many ways, 350 Legend is an odd caliber choice for a bolt-action rifle like the Ruger American Ranch Rifle. That’s because one of the two big driving factors behind the 350 Legend’s development was its compatibility with AR-15s. Despite this, the pairing of the lightweight, ultra-dependable Ruger bolt gun and the hard-hitting 350 Legend is a solid one – especially for hunting wild pigs and whitetail deer. But given the gun’s relatively high price when compared to AR-15s in the same caliber, it begs the question, “Is the Ruger Ranch rifle any good? And is it worth a buy?” |

Gargantuan gators beware! Florida's 2022 hunting season started on Monday, 8/15 with brand new rules regarding hunting hours and acceptable equipment. Gator hunting is now allowed 24-hours a day, up from the 17-hours that used to primarily target night and early mornings. As far as equipment is concerned, pneumatic air-bows attached to a restraining line can now be used, much to the delight of mobility challenged and younger hunters, for whom such tools can be far easier to use.

Disgruntled ex-employees are easy to find these days, and even easier to ignore in most cases. But when you find one who has worked for a key federal agency for nearly 18 years and quits because of recent politicization of that organization, what he has to say is newsworthy, indeed. |

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government introduced Bill C-21, proposing a permanent freeze on the sale, transfer and import of handguns in Canada. The bill remains at the initial stages and did not pass prior to Parliament’s recess for the summer. While the bill works its way through the parliamentary process, CBC news reports that the federal government is nonetheless “fast-track[ing] a ban on the import of handguns into the country without the approval of Parliament using a regulatory measure that comes into effect” on August 19, to “last until a permanent freeze is passed in Parliament and comes into force.” |

Most hardcore deer hunters began planning for this deer hunting season the moment the last one ended. We went shed hunting, scouted new ground, tweaked trail camera placement, prepped new food plots, and fine-tuned our shooting at the bow range. And now, the 2022 season is almost here, but what will it hold? |

An American icon since 1852, Smith & Wesson on Monday fired a public broadside to whom it may concern about its feelings on the right to keep and bear arms and how they fit into it. S&W was among a series of companies asked to testify last month before the Democrat-controlled House Oversight Committee on the subject of "the role of the firearms industry in America’s gun violence epidemic." |
