A group of public defense lawyer organizations recently joined forces with Second Amendment advocates to urge the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate a New York gun control scheme. Now that the scheme has been successfully overturned in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which held that the Second Amendment includes the right "to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home," public defenders have begun citing the Court's ruling to protect the rights of their clients. |

Tomorrow, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution to repeal/challenge Arizona's preemption statutes, Resolution NO. 2022 - 44. This resolution falls in line with efforts by both Pima County and Tucson to pass local gun control ordinances. In 2017, the Arizona State Supreme Court ruled in the State's favor, causing the City of Tucson to repeal an ordinance that was in violation of the state statute. Please use the take action button below to contact the Board and respectfully urge them to oppose Resolution NO. 2022 - 44.

I’d like to share with you a modern-day story of David and Goliath. If I were to mention 1 Samuel 17, the biblically literate among you would know the tale. I highly recommend reading it, as it will make this story richer with context and provenance. Of course, the story of David and Goliath is known far beyond the Judeo-Christian among us. Do you recall it? Goliath represents the mighty and powerful aggressors, while David represents the pure in spirit – someone who believed.

Several weeks ago, I shared some of my thoughts about the gun control debate. There’s no doubt we have a real problem in this country because we are no longer teaching our children and grandchildren to value life, and our nation is doing nothing to address the mental health pandemic happening around us.

Ethiopian Emperor Melenik II is credited with fighting back European colonial incursions at the turn of the 19th century and preserving Ethiopian independence. He was an able leader, diplomat and military strategist who realized he could not hold off invading European armies with spears and a few muzzleloaders. Ethiopian soldiers needed good guns and Melenik II wheeled-and-dealed to get them wherever he could.

Acquiring “good enough” skill with a rifle, at least adequate for big-game hunting at moderate ranges, is actually not terribly hard. Most game animals are shot at ranges under 200 yards, often considerably less, and generally from some sort of rest. It used to surprise me to find many rifle owners, even those knowledgeable and enthusiastic, had little interest in shooting.

The lead round nose bullet is probably what most people think of when they hear the word “bullet.” These bullets are great for multipurpose use – they're usually cheaper than other styles, feed well in a wide variety of weapons, deform on impact, and are very accurate. |
