The Salem-Keizer school board is expected to vote Aug. 9 on a resolution that would further prohibit weapons on district property. The proposed policy expands existing restrictions to include all concealed firearms carried by campus visitors. The board first discussed the topic in a June 28 work session and again after the first reading of the proposal July 12. |

A: Over the years I’ve tested quite a few Marlin rifles which had Micro-Groove rifling and found them to be very accurate. For a while it was used on big-bore rifles, but then a problem reared its ugly head: the fine rifling does not work well with lead bullets unless you are super careful when reloading with regard to the alloys and velocities you are using. |

With pistol-caliber carbines, or PCCs, becoming ever more popular, it only made sense to turn the world’s most popular firearm platform into one. Enter the WASR-M from Century Arms, an AKM that feeds from 9mm Glock magazines. The fact that this WASR uses Glock magazines is incredibly handy for several reasons. For one thing, Glock 9mm magazines are readily available almost everywhere at a great price, and any model will work in this rifle (G26, G17, G19, etc.). Plus, Glock’s magazines are known for their reliability. So, on top of being able to get lots of magazines at the right price, they are built to perform for years on end. |

The average response time by law enforcement in an active shooter situation is roughly 10 minutes , while many mass shootings are already over in that time, leaving multiple people dead. Those few minutes can be the difference between life and death, and this suggests that the best way to reduce the mass murder of innocent citizens is to arm more law-abiding people who can neutralize the attacks before the police arrive at the scene. |

A week before the House of Representatives approved a ban on "assault weapons," a federal judge in Denver explained why such laws are unlikely to pass constitutional muster. House Democrats either were not paying attention or did not care, because they view the Second Amendment as an outmoded provision that imposes no meaningful limits on gun control. |

In Massachusetts — a state not known for its gun enthusiasm — firearm sales hit record levels over the past two years, with handguns dominating the purchases. A WBUR analysis of state data found that gun dealers here sold almost 276,000 firearms from 2020 through 2021. Of those, 64% were handguns, which people tend to buy for self protection. Another 23% were rifles.

History shows us that the government’s goal is to disarm its citizens. “Common sense” gun laws touted by our progressive Democrats continue to aim us towards that disarmament. But the recent United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decision on NYSPRA v. Bruen reaffirms that our Constitution codifies the natural Right of self-defense, making the government’s goal of civilian disarmament virtually impossible to reach. They are pulling out their hair and straining to find loopholes and go-arounds.

I grew up in the idyllic 1990s, a time of prosperity and happiness filled with leisure with little to no fear of attack or being a victim of crime. To experience crime, one had to "go to the other side of the tracks," so to speak. Jake Vander Ark said it best in his book The Accidental Siren.

The Sons of Liberty is a non-profit organization with a goal of protecting constitutional rights as well as increasing public awareness of what is going on in government.

In 2005, Smith & Wesson relaunched its M&P line with the M&P45. This pistol was a huge hit among the law enforcement community that it was intended to serve, and the civilian market followed suit. As concealed carry laws across the country loosened and more states leaned into constitutional carry, Smith & Wesson expanded the M&P lineup and found itself situated among the best sellers in the industry. |
